Everybody loves a good pirate tale: Daring high sea adventure, swashbuckling, action, romance, scoundrels, and night time raids.
Follow the link to read Patrick Thunstrom's article on building a casual deck with the theme of privateering scum! http://www.thespoils.com/spoils/view...ual_privateers

This deck looks to be a lot of fun for casual players. It has a lot of cards that are easily accessible to new players, too, being that it only has 3 different rare cards.
Now here are my suggested changes to the deck... Being that it is a more "defensive deck" until the late game, I would say a big change would be to: -3 Defense Attorney +3 Pilgrimage Auditor Obvious reason is obvious, here. The 1 strength, 4 life and "hafta blok" rules text doesn't justify his 3 cost over a 0 strength, 5 life who can essentially nullify 2 characters a turn, every turn. And since the deck does have some pump-up in it, the 0 strength will sometimes equal a kill, or two, too. My only other change would be: -8 Greed +4 Exploitation +4 Because God Said So! Again, obvious reason is obvious. A bit faster Planking action with a VERY scary pump-up. Because God Said So! can really help out those weenies become meanies. Nothing throws off your opponent more than your 0/5/3 Auditor who's supposedly JUST a wall turning into a 5/10/3 and killing off a critical character, for 2 cost. Great job on the casual deck! I might just build this, with a few of my own changes, for some of my newer recruits! Keep up the good work! ![]()

How can you have a pirate deck without Swashbuckler or Pillaging Pirate?

It just didn't happen to be the trades I used, honestly, and Rogue didn't have the low cost/low threshold characters I was looking to supplement the goal of the deck. The deck may be better with deception, why not play test it and let us know?

Funny statement. When was that said? When there was First Edition only? Or only Open Beta?

I believe it was said after first edition and part 2 came out. They said the deck could beat Purple Haze.
