Default The difference between items and gear

Ok when you have a creature in play and you cast an item-gear, do you attach it right away like an enchantment or is it like an equptment?

When the creature dies, does the item "fall off" and stay in play, or does it go to the discard pile with the creature?

Same questions but for attachable items like the "Sword Surf Board" It is an item but not gear.

Thanks.

From the basic rules

If the attaching card’s target is no longer in play by the time it resolves, put it into its owner’s discard pile instead of into play.
If the attaching card is put into play by an effect that does not specify a target for it, you must pick a target card as the attaching card enters play.
If the target card stops being the appropriate type, destroy the attaching card immediately.

So if they all act like an enchantment, what is the difference between a normal Item and a gear item?

An item is a card type, generally items stay in play ((Similar to Magic's enchantments, as that is what you're used to.)). Gear is a subtype that signifies items that attach to things. Think of it as the 'aura' subtype.

the only real difference is this

item = enters play on its own

item-gear= as apart of the cost of playing it you must choose a character to attach it to.

now if while you are playing the gear the character it will be attached to leaves play, the item never comes into play.

also gears follow the character they are attached to. So if you had a character with hidden dagger attached to it and the character is returned to its owners hand the hidden dagger is returned to its owners hand. if the character is destroyed the dagger is destroyed ect.

hope that help you out.
