Sp is a dipthong, modern voice recognition shouldn't have a problem passing over it. And I'd likely not choose pass specifically.

I didn't say anything about a head judge for each table, merely a single head judge that can easily watch four tables to make sure that noone is taking advantage of the clock system, and as far as Priority goes, I have absolutely no problem playing Magic online, which has a Chess clock system that it uses for priority changes. I'm not even suggesting always hitting the clock either, I'm saying if I attack and my opponent says, "Taking" or "take" then that particular exchange doesn't need to be clicked through, what I'm saying if my opponent says, "Hold up" or "Just a Sec" or "gimme a sec" or "lemme think here" then that is when the function needs clicked through. A head judge watching the four matches going on could easily see if a player is taking advantage of the clock. Even one sitting at the far end of a table watching all 4 tables or just roaming around. And I'm not looking at this for events held in stores where you have one overworked judge as it is, I'm talking about at Nationals or larger scale events. Most gaming groups in this area take their own form of justice against stalling, the most prevalent in our area being a gentleman who is affectionately(most of the time anyway) referred to as the "human draw." As to buying a Chess clock, I can throw a few suggestions, both Android and the App store from apple have reliable, effective, and cheap(the Iphone's Chess clock app I use is completely free, though it is a demo). With a laptop or netbook, there are a number of programs that mimic a chess clock with a minimum of expense. I dunno, I seem to be getting negative responses from judges and positive responses from players, as I said, prolly not gonna be exactly what's needed, but the time functions on chess clocks can be easily seen on wikipedia to determine if any of these are timing rules that are easily enforced. As to Voice tech, how about Narrow Passage. Last edited by Edwin20er : 07-15-2010 at 05:42 AM. |

It seems like it would be a good idea, but I urge you all to play with it some. It can be really frustrating after not very long. The game is not supposed to be frustrating!

I hope that this ruling is changed - I've never played in a TCG game where there's ties.
I played in the Nationals and my third round match went to time because my opponent was able to "wall up" in the last few rounds when I had him down to 1 life for 3-4 turns. He had only damaged me for about 10-12. I had control of the match for 95% of the game and because I couldn't finish in time, I feel I was penalized with a draw. People say that its better than a loss, but I felt that it was nowhere near a loss. Players shouldn't be rewarded with a draw when they clearly no control of the game at any time... |

Draws were much better than losses. 5-2-1 had a shot at T8 (I made it with that record). 5-3 didn't at all. Yes, that sucks for you, but if you were in complete control, you would have been able to kill him :P
